Front Bumper mount water tank

for non-pressurized WIS

The European 3000GT are equipped with a headlight washer system that consists of a washer bottle with pump and two spray nozzles. The tank itselfs is ideal for Water Injection Systems as it holds around 4 liters of water and allows to run short hoses to the system itselfs.

On this page it is shown how the tank is mounted and what is need to make it working for any non-prepressurized WIS. At the end of the page there is the information on ordering such a tank. Unfortunately, it must be ordered directly from Japan as it is normally not on stock.

Details of the front bumper

This copy out fo the manual shows the location of the front tank that sits on the crash guard behind the plastic bumper cover. The illustration shows the european first gen cars but it will fit any year 3000GT, GTO and Stealth.

This close-up shows the tank with it's filler. On the left side of the tank you can see the stock pump for the headlight washers. It is not needed for the WI setup but it leaves an open hole that must be closed.

Here one can see how the tank looks like when mounted. Please note, there will probably no threads or hangers be found where it can be mounted but it should be easy to create something small to keep it in place. On the lower part of the bottle you can see the level sensor. I do not recommend it to buy from Mitsu as it is more expensive than the tank itselfs. But one can use the very same level sensor from the windshield washer bottle as it is the same device. Electrically it can easily be wired into the existing harness. These pictures are showing the filler that comes with the tank. It consists of a hose and the top plastic filler part that can be extended for easier filling (including cap).

I'm still able to get the tank from our local Mitsubishi importer and will sell it without a gain for USD 87.50 including shipping to the US and other countries. It comes with tank, rubber hose, lower filler part and upper filler part with cap. Price may change due to the exchange rate or when Mitsu again increases prices ! Delivery may take up to 6 weeks !
